Tropical Consult, Discover Dominica Authority’s European representative agency, was instrumental in organizing a meeting with an Austrian TV journalist Karl Ploberger in Guadeloupe in December 2022. This resulted in a press trip to Dominica in early 2023. Mr. Ploberger and his film crew visited Dominica in February 2023 for a film production.
The broadcast on Dominica will feature our nature, flowers, tropical gardens, national parks, hiking, sustainable eco-friendly tourism and accommodation. The theme of the group trip is “Garden Tour.” The 50-minutes TV documentary is expected to be aired live via Austrian public TV channel ORF2 on May 30, 2023 at 8:15 p.m. ORF2 TV channel has the highest market share in Austria.
In addition, an Austrian tour operator organized a trip for 26 clients to Guadeloupe for a 7-day stay in December 2022 with a journalist. Eight group members extended their stay for a week, while 15 other interested customers were on the waiting list. The same is being planned for Dominica. The first group of 25 guests will travel to Dominica in December 2023. Potentially, some customers will book trips to Dominica because of the TV documentary. Therefore, DDA believes that this hosted trip has huge ROI expectations for the destination and the tourisms sectors.
