  • Plantation of food forest
  • Riverside Café

Citrus Creek Plantation is located in Taberi, La Plaine on the east coast. “Taberi” was a Kalinago settlement and gave its name to the Taberi river, one mile north of the village of La Plaine. The plantation was transformed from an old 20-acre estate while preserving its plantation-like atmosphere. Citrus Creek is located in front of Bout Sable beach where sea turtles come to nest in season, and just beneath the UNESCO protected Trois Pitons National Park, with close to half a mile of river frontage.

Under the organic food forest concept, hundreds of fruit trees were planted including mangoes, bananas, and coconuts, following permaculture principles. Recently, a brand-new vanilla plantation has been planted in the forest. Citrus Creek is situated within a completely preserved environment and no chemicals are used in the plantation.

The property showcases elegant architecture using stones and wood. A total of 11 unique bungalows, cottages, and villas are operated as an eco-lodge by Citrus Creek Plantation, and six of them are available for rent. A seventh one, named Calabash, is currently being refurbished for next season. Each cottage is self-contained with its own kitchen and wireless fiber internet, nestled in large landscaped tropical gardens.

As a sustainable property, there is no AC or TV. The spacious and harmonious spaces allow for natural ventilation with abundant privacy. Citrus Creek utilizes 100% renewable energies, has rain and river water catchments, practices composting, and is chemical free.

Management tries to follow the concept of “grow what you eat, eat what you grow” as much as possible. Accordingly, the Riverside Café’s renowned French chef cooks mainly local and organic products, providing farm-to-table at its best with a French touch. The dining experience is provided on an inviting veranda facing the river and its pools.

Citrus Creek Plantation welcomes the various nationalities attracted to Dominica because of its barefoot luxury. Luxury that comes from the space, the plantation, the river, the valley, and the gardens – nothing ostentatious or showy. Guests feel at home in a plantation ambiance close to nature, like travelers invited to the cottage of an old friend.
