Disney Fantasy Makes Inaugural Call to Dominica

Disney Fantasy, the fourth cruise ship owned and operated by Disney Cruise Line, made its inaugural call to Dominica on July 25, 2022. The ship called in at the Roseau Cruise Ship Berth with 3,146 cruise passengers.

The inaugural call of Disney Fantasy comes after much deliberation and networking with the key players of Disney Cruise Line. This represents a major milestone in Dominica’s growth as a cruise destination as this is the first Disney Cruise Line vessel to sail to our shores.

Many preparations were undertaken to ensure the enjoyment and safety of the passengers and crew of Disney Fantasy. A welcome ceremony to include a plaque exchange between the captain and local government officials was held at the Fort Young Hotel. Efforts to cater to the interests of the passengers included a kid’s corner with an array of activities for the children’s involvement; live musical performances, live models showcasing cultural characters located along the cruise pier for photo opportunities; and a mini cultural parade showcasing cultural acts.

Of the 3,012 passengers who disembarked the ship, 1,398 engaged in tour activities such as Trafalgar Falls, Titou Gorge, Emerald Pool, Morne Bruce, Botanic Gardens, Mero Beach, Indian River, and the Cabrits National Park.

While visitors were free to roam the streets of the city of Roseau, a mask mandate remained in effect to ensure that cruise passengers were kept safe while visiting Dominica during the coronavirus pandemic.

The government is determined to build on the foundation of Disney Cruise Line’s inaugural visit and looks forward to welcoming future calls to the beautiful nature isle.
