Dominica welcomed the first cruise ship to its shores since the passage of Hurricane Maria on September 18, 2017. The MSC Sea Cloud II anchored off the north of the island on December 28, 2017.

The Forestry, Wildlife & Parks Division wishes to inform visitors and the general public that in the interest of public safety and in promotion of the widely accepted protocol of social distancing as a protective measure in combatting the threat of COVID 19, all ecotourism sites will be closed from Wednesday 25th March 2020 until further notice.
All persons are asked to adhere to the restriction placed on site visitation for your own personal safety and that of others.

    Accessibility to Natural Attractions Improving

    Discover Dominica Authority is pleased to announce that steady progress is being made to ensure that Dominica’s most popular natural sites and attractions are accessible to the public.  The Forestry, Wildlife and National Parks Division, alongside various local and regional partners have been working diligently to clear some of o ur most iconic sites.  These include the Trafalgar Falls, Syndicate Nature Trail, Emerald Pool, Fort Shirley, Indian River and the Botanic Gardens.  While most of the sites are still officially closed, work is ongoing to ensure their readiness to receive visitors by January 1, 2018. Voluntourism packages with a focus on trail clearing are being offered by Cool Breeze Tours and the Tamarind Tree Hotel.
